2025 Spring Nucs
Nucs must be picked up in Barboursville, VA. Shipping is not available. Apiary address will be provided along with pick up date via e-mail.
When the nuc is ready the customer will be contacted, and we will arrange by appointment only.
The nucs will contain a marked laying queen, five MEDIUM frames, one frame of honey/pollen, at least three frames of brood in various stages, and one frame of drawn comb for them to work. Queen will be in nuc and laying for at least 3 weeks before pickup so that the queen’s performance can be evaluated. This ensures that you are getting a good quality queen with lots of bees to get you started.
We pride ourselves in raising healthy, quality honey bees. We select for gentleness, hygienic behavior traits, and from VSH stock. Your nuc will be packed with bees and ready to install in your equipment immediately.
Price is $195.00 + tax. A non-refundable deposit $50.00 deposit is required to reserve nuc(s).
The balance of $145.00 + tax is due upon pickup.
Spring nucs will be ready in the mid-May - June timeframe and come in a carboard-jester-type box ready for you to pick up. Your order will be processed in the order in which it is received. No need to bring your own hardware. For bio-security reasons we do not allow outside hive boxes and frames on the premises.
All nucleus colonies undergo a full state inspection by the Virginia Department of Agriculture.
All sales for nucleus colonies are final and not eligible for refunds due to limited supply. A deposit is required to reserve your nuc.
